Happy Hanukkah to all that celebrate! As you may know, Sunday evening marked the beginning of the Jewish Festival of Lights, aka Hanukkah. The festival, known as Chanukah in Hebrew, commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. Lasting 8 nights and days, it is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabra with nine branches, called a menorah. Each night, one candle is lit by families, accompanied by songs, prayers and of course no celebration would be complete without some delish foods!
Here at Tsion Café we decided to add a little spice and flavor to this year’s Hanukkah celebrations. Because really, who doesn’t love a good excuse to celebrate? With that being said, we are extending our ‘home away from home’to you and your family and loved ones this Sunday (December 9, 2018) on the final night of Hanukkah.
Come by Tsion Café on Sunday between 4:30 – 6:30 PM and light the 8thcandle with us and Moishe House, an international non-profit organization made up of a collection of homes throughout the world that serve as hubs for the young adult Jewish community. There will be delish traditional food, music to fill your soul and lots and lots of smiles. Now that sounds like a perfect ending to a joyous time of the year to us.
